Our Heritage

HARD Society NGO’s founder, Dr. Litton Sarker, completed his BBA, MBA and Ph.D. degrees in the USA.  He also started successful businesses and taught entrepreneurship and business management in an American university. His wife and co-founder, also Dr. Sarker, completed BA, M.Ed., and Ph.D. degrees in the USA and also served as a professor there.  Returning to Bangladesh, the couple became increasingly concerned by the poverty-stricken conditions they witnessed in the rural villages. With Dr. Litton Sarker’s leadership and resources, he assembled together a team of bright, young, educated individuals with a similar passion for developing the lives of their countrymen suffering in the rural areas of Bangladesh. Humanitarian Aid for Rural Development (HARD) Society was born in 2008.

The HARD NGO (non-governmental organization) today seeks to eradicate poverty, eradicate illiteracy, and establish communities of character while empowering with dignity those previously without a voice.

HARD extends its impact by developing rural entrepreneurs through micro-finance and other projects, by improving healthcare, educational opportunities, innovation in sustainable agriculture, and other social services for villagers, and by responding with disaster relief and other humanitarian aid needs.

HARD SOCIETY ORGANOGRAM

Charity, volunteer for better life and our smiles.

HARD employs over 120 bright, educated full-time workers and over 60 enthusiastic part-time workers and volunteers.

Each of these are Bangladeshi nationals with a passion to further HARD’s mission of improving the lives of those in poverty, both socio-economically and ethically. HARD strategically selects workers that have the integrity, skills, and potential for leadership within the community. Over 90% of the management team have at least a bachelor’s or master’s degree. Field workers, teachers, and local leaders are selected from the villages in which they live and serve, so they have natural rapport and influence within the community. The HARD team works together like a family where unity, support, and respect for each other are encouraged and emphasized.

We desire to impact society by helping our workers find their God given calling and purpose in life. Through cultivating integrity and servant leadership in our workers, HARD seeks to invest in their lives so they can impact their communities.
